A Heartfelt Prayer

Please God give me gentleness, understanding and love.
Help me to cope with a calm peaceful mind.
Quell my anger, stop any unkind thoughts,
Give me the strength to go on and please remind
me to believe that through lives, loves and deaths
life is good. Always guide me, bring me to find
that life is precious and always worth having.
Please let me with your help, play my part, be kind.

When I feel so alone let me know you are near.
Let me be aware of what I can do to help others find
pleasure in living in the best way that they can.
Help me to learn and teach others that your love is the tie to bind.
Help me to find time for others, have a loving and giving nature
Be selfless not selfish, let me know your light has shined
on me. Help me to accept life as it is not as I want it to be.
Perhaps this will free me from being confined.

May you show me the way, the truth and the light,
Help to open up my eyes and not remain blind
to other peoples' narrow mindedness. Let me help,
lead me to understanding, do not let me be resigned
to accepting evil because it is the easy path.
Show me what life means, to reveal the way clearly signed,
to the next world. Help me to prepare for that leaving behind,
God thank you for my poetry in which my thoughts and feelings are defined.
