New Creation

My life has been shattered
by the ones I trust.
My faith is tattered
by my carnal lusts.

I had it all,
but it was taken away.
I keep hitting a wall
day after day.

At first I cried
and called out to the Lord,
"You could have tried!"
but I was ignored.

I was left alone
to rot in my sin.
I didn't change my tone
but listened to the demons within.

Then a light shone down
as bright as the sun!
I had been Found!
My suffering was done!

It was then that I knew
God didn't abandon me.
That day I would rue,
for I couldn't see.

Now maybe it's time,
perhaps I should
sing a new rhyme
and let down my hood.

I think I'll give up
and let go of my strife.
I want to drink from this cup
of everlasting life.

I'll be a new creation
formed from the love,
given to every nation,
sent from above.
