Grimsley has a secret he promissed not to tell. |
Grimsley had a secret he promised not to tell. His mother said to kept it so she wouldn't have to yell. Grimsley didn't like to hear his mother raise her voice. So keep their secret, yes he would, there was no other choice. He promised he would keep this secret to himself. He wouldn't tell a single soul, not even his friend the elf. He wouldn't tell the robin sitting high up in the trees. He wouldn't tell the flowers or the buzzing bumble bees. He wouldn't tell the man-in-the-moon smiling in the sky. He wouldn't tell the clouds that were slowly drifting by. He wouldn't tell the lightning bugs glowing in the air. He wouldn't tell his father who was sitting in a chair. His secret was so special that no one else should know. Until his mother said to him, "OK, it's time, let's go." So Grimsley and his mother went off into town. She took him to the dentist, where in a big chair he sat down. "Open wide and let me see just what I'll have to do. To keep those special teeth of yours looking good as new." Grimsley opened up his mouth so the dentist could take look. X-Rays then were taken, the dentist read them like a book. He looked for any cavities that he might have to fill. Seeing none he smiled and said, "I won't have to drill." "Although all your teeth are special, and need brushing every day. You must also floss between them to keep the cavities away." So Grimsley let the dentist shine them nice and bright. Then he made a big wide grin to show that they were white. "I see you have two special teeth that seem to be quite long. Be careful not to hurt yourself, now go on, run along." Grimsley had a strange impulse to bite the dentist's hand. Since the dentist didn't hurt him, he changed what he had planned. So Grimsley kept on smiling and showing off his teeth. He laughed and smiled and showed them, to all that he should meet. Now he no longer had to keep his secret to himself. And so he showed his secret, to his friend the elf. He showed them to the robin sitting high up in the tree. He showed them to the flowers and the busy bumble bee. He showed them to the man-in-the-moon way up in the sky. He showed them to the clouds that were slowly drifting by. He showed them to the lightning bugs glowing in the air. He even showed his father who was sitting in a chair. His father smiled and said to him "I see your teeth are white. Your fangs are growing nicely, they glisten in the light." "A Vampire's teeth are special son we need them to survive. Take care of each and every one, so no caries will arrive." "I hope you use your tooth brush after every single bite. To keep those pointy fangs of yours nice and pearly white." His father gave his son a big white toothy grin. Hugged and kissed his forehead then caressed him on his chin. "Now go and play and have some fun it's almost time for bed. Don't forget to brush your teeth, do what the dentist said." So Grimsley brushed them up and down, then brushed them side to side. He even used the dental floss, when he opened up real wide. His teeth were very pearly white when he climbed up into bed. He fluffed his feathery pillow then lay down his sleepy head. The sun was shining in the sky when Grimsley fell asleep. Dreaming of new adventures now there's no secret left to keep. For future reference the word caries means tooth decay. |
