This is written for all those whose mothers have died whether recently or long ago.

Oh Mum, when does the hurting stop?
This pain that tears deep within my heart,
Your friendship meant the world to me
Now I know the meaning of apart.

Oh Mum, when does the crying stop?
I think I must have wept a sea of tears,
I feel so lost, alone, without you here,
Emptier now will be the future years.

Oh Mum, when does the longing stop?
I lie awake, staring blindly at the night,
Your face, your gentle softness and your smile,
How I wish I had them in my sight.

Oh Mum, when does the grieving stop?
Losing you is so very hard to bear
You were a very special kind of person
Caring, loving, someone really rare.

Never is the answer to the questions,
Time will ease the pain inside I know,
Locked safely in my heart are precious memories,
Oh Mum, dear Mum, why did you have to go?
