Reflecting on the sweet moments of summer.
So I met you through a friend of that guys cousin,

You took a hit or two to hold back their sharp tongues, you spilled it all in front of me,
You opened up and came as close as you could;
she still in the picture and you so torn between, how many girls? her and I,

You said I'm unique and innocent,
"Innocence that the whole world lacks",
You held me close enough to cut me, yet far enough away so you could slip past me when it was time,

You taught me that all it takes is a prop to change my disposition,

You taught me what it's like to never say good-bye,I forgot your face all the same,

You were too fucking deep for me and yet I took it all in, and I'll be damned if you weren't shallow,

I used to hurt when I thought about those hands that made me safe, one dance, one night, that one last kiss, broken promises though you never lied or let me down, I never wanting less, the simple truth, and that's just what you gave me; So much truth I overflowed with it,

I could smell you in the autumn breeze and the lust I felt soon turned to regret, so afraid at first that I gave it all away at the drop of a hat, your hat, my hat, that god-damn hat, you said it was sexy, I was a kick-ass cowgirl, a beer and I was there, hell a glance, you call, but I had to work, even today I'm wishing I could come to breakfast at 4:30 in the morning just to see you fall asleep standing up, leaning against those ruminant mammals, sounds stupid right?

Those god-damn eyes, those eyes that turned me inside out, the icy cold-heat, you stop by to kiss me, then drive away tail-lights glaring in the distance,
your gone,
I smell you in the room,
I look at the shelf where you kept your poison, the baler-twine you left laying there, strung out, kinda like my emotions, all strung out, gratefully optimistic for the first time in my life.
