The transition of betrayal to grief to redemption. |
Ice Princess-Dusk She's all alone The Ice Princess Locked in an ivory tower Not of her making. She was warm, once The sun smiled on her. Now since the lie, Part of her did die The sun went away And she began to freeze Darkness The cold no longer frightened her In this frozen, isolated tower. The confinement beget solace Torment and sorrow giving birth to power. Standing on sanity's precipice, The Ice Princess mused Twisted smile wreathing her face One careless moment, loss of control With a single thought, she'd be free. What difference did it make, after all? Rage, pain, tears and sorrow Teasingly numb yesterday, razor sharp tommorow. Let it consume the soul, the mind break Shatter the body, her heart take Leave her violated, it could hurt no worse Than the sweeping away, the loss of sweet illusion Of sugar-spun dreams, now melted in tormenting confusion Deepest Night The Ice Princess saw the sun afar From her Ivory Tower high in the heavens. Would it ever warm her again? Ever again would she dance in fields of sunbeams? A chill, sharper than steel, sliced her soul Running nowhere, the Ice Princess was trapped For the first time, she wept, longing to be free Dawn Soft, warm tears melted the icy coffin of her heart Wails shaking the foundations of her Ivory Tower This was her prison no longer! Timid, tiny steps found her in the sun Its warmth drying her tears, lending her strength Shivering in the shadow of the Ivory Tower in the sky So she danced, slowly, uncertainly, farther Into sun-drenched fields, bright with promise Losing fear, only hope and peace remaining. A keening howl, a roar in the distance Eyes wide with understanding, the Princess laughed The Ivory Tower was in ruins, all rubble And she danced free and unafraid in fields of sunbeams once more.
