Addition to the lay, Curse of a Gift
How fair the noble Faramir is, and how unfair his fate appears...The burdens upon Faramir are given as an interesting parallel to those of Frodo in the saga of the One Ring's destruction.

Faramir’s deeply troubled look
O’er Captain’s City on Anduin -
Osgiliath lays darkened -
And the shame of flight from it stings.
The retreat to the White City brings
Steward of Gondor’s rebuke.

Faramir’s gaze lingers long
Weighing the burdens o'Third Age
Seen Gondor’s sons pay, favors praise.
Yet to lead West, he’s passed o’er
For Boromir – whose death, n' split horn,
Nw'round Faramir is cast the wrong.

Westways and back as’d his brother,
Falls unto the Ring’s obscure’path -
So meets two half-lads, finds no wrath;
Questions the darkling among the fair.
He cautions they travel in care
Where evil lairs and doom gather.

Forced to endure father’s spite -
O, Sweet heart buried in death or
Mourns love, withheld by Denethor.
Cap’n Faramir yet will serve –
Last dignity left him is nerve.
Last born mourns all; ‘tis not right.
