essay was written with a What is Important to Me theme |
Just Paper It's dark outside, the pitter, patter of rain drops fall all around the outside of a brightly lit house. Inside sits a girl at a desk, surrounded by piles of books, essays, drawings, and short stories. That girl is me. I love sitting inside on rainy days reading or writing. Sometimes I am even inspired to sketch. When anyone asks me, what I think is the 'best invention ever made' is, I respond with paper, just paper. It had so many uses. When I was little, I would read children's stories, gently turning the brightly colored pages of the over sized books. I continued reading. I still love being so immersed within a story that I am transported into a different world. I can be angry, upset or just bored then magically go on some kind of adventure. Then there is writing. Writing was my second love, after reading. Many people say reading and writing go hand in hand. I can't have one without the other. That is all very true for me. I have been writing for as long as I can remember. Without paper no one would be able to write anything for others to have easy access to, so many people would lose the privilege and ability to read. Drawing is another hobby of mine. I like to sketch with just a piece of paper, and a pencil or some charcoal. It forces me to look more closely at my surroundings. Without paper most people probably wouldn't be able to get through their day. I know I would be lost without it. |
