Of those having a human body but no heart, who have bartered their soul to the devil. |
HUMAN MONSTERS I am not afraid of brutes; They through their savageness, Show their cruelty but know That they’re, in fact, cruel. However, some others do, Entertain no feelings. Innocent they are of the Notion of cruelty! Human monsters of this sort, Unkind, without a heart, Merely have a human shape. And, to Devil, they’re sold. No more are they normal beings, Monsters inhuman these; Oblivious of kindness, Not knowing what’s a heart. So dreadful are these monsters That they rape, maim or kill Everyone who crosses them Regardless of their age. Though these are real monsters, Human cloak they put on, Announcing to the wary That they are innocent! I do have, yes, much to fear From these Devil’s agents. Every action of theirs is Almost certain death trap, Repugnant, ugly crap! • Written in 7-6-7-6 format * Awarded First Prize in the contest "Invalid Item" where an acrostic had to be written around the prompt—“ It’s the inhuman monster that I fear.” M C Gupta 11 May 2005 • Written in 7-6-7-6 format * Awarded First Prize in the contest "Invalid Item" where an acrostic had to be written around the prompt—“ It’s the inhuman monster that I fear.” M C Gupta 11 May 2005 |
