The Duelest

I just have to win Grandma! I need that card. Oh, for pete's sake Speedy you have been going on about that torunament for over 2 weeks now, Grandma said. But I love YU-GI-OH, I am serious Grandma Speedy said. I know sweetie you'll do fine. You have been practicing, just do your best, she replied.

Oh, Grandma doesn't understand, Speedy grumbled, I have over 200 cards but not the best card. All the kids I duel with think Exoida is best but he stinks! Well it's a good card an all but not as good as the Egyptian God cards. I have to pick the best cards for my deck so I'm ready for the duel tomorrow, maybe I can win an Egyptian God card. Boy that would be cool!

Speedy, come eat your dinner before it gets cold, Grandma yelled. I made your favorite, Cheesburgers. Speedy ran into the house to eat. Hey, Grannie are you taking me to the Mall tomorrow? Speedy kept peeking out the door, to excited to sit looking for Ryan, hurry up Ryan, Speedy yelled seeing him coming down the street. Whas up Speedy? Ryan ask coming in the door. Oh man I am going to the Mall tomorrow to duel you want to help me practice? Grandma said you could come if you want to, she called your Mom. Hey Grannie did Ryan's Mom say it was ok? Speedy was laying out his cards on the field of play; he loved using his Blue Eye White Dragon card. Boy this is a best card Ryan, Speedy said. I know you have some really neat cards Speedy, his friend said.

They entered Yugi's world, leaving this one behind. Laughing, destroying monsters, setting traps and doing magic. Watching Grandma marveled at the mysterious ways boys have. Boy are truly made of grass and snails and puppy dog tails. God the innocence of childhood ends much to soon he is already 9, she laughed to herself. Hey boys its getting late, Ryan you better head on home now, don't forget be ready at 10 in the morining, ok.

Speedy was to excited to eat his breakfast. Come on Speedy get moving we have to be there by 11am, you don't have much time little man, Grandma said. Ok, Speedy said I am hurrying. Don't forget your cards, she said laughing, as nervous as he was, she didn't want to have to run back home to get them if he did. Lets go hon and pick up Ryan, its time to go.

The Mall was packed, kids everywhere trading cards and talking about the trounament. Standing in line, Speedy was all eyes, taking in the posters, the life size cut outs of Yugi and all the other duelests from the TV show. They even had people dressed up like Yugi and his friends. Wow! Speedy said to Ryan, this is to cool huh. Yep its really neat, Ryan said. Soon it was time for the tournament to start. Excitement was thick in the air. With hands sweating; Speedy prayed, please God let me win just one card, ok?

The first round started and Speedy was once again in Yugi's world, defending humanity from Pegasus and his evil minions. He found his rythm and ran with it. Destroying his opponents; monsters and battling evil wizzards. He won the first round.

He could not believe his luck, as the rounds of dueling passed in a flash, he realized he had made it to the final round and his coveted Egyptian God card was almost his. The final round began, you could of heard a pin drop the tension was so thick in the air.

Speedy battled royally making moves he didn't realized he knew. All the sudden his opponent played the dreaded Exodia card. Ah man, Speedy thought now what am I going to do? Thinking hard he remembered one show when Pegasus played Exodia against Yugi, and the card Yugi used to defeat it was in Speedy's hand. Smiling he played the Change of Heart card, he took over Exodia and destroyed his opponents' entire battlefield.

On the way home holding his beloved Obelisk The Tormentor and the other great cards he had won, he couldn't wipe the smile off his face. Wow, I really did it! I won! That was the best dueling ever Ryan laughed, you are good Speedy. Well Grandma said, I knew you could do it if you tired but even if you hadn't won, you played your best and thats what counts Speedy.

ya right Speedy laughed to himself, Grandma just don't understand.
