A 'dialogue only' comedy short of alien communications.

Disclaimer: This story was created for a 500 word or less 'dialogue only' contest, so keep those limitations in mind when reviewing.

“Excuse me, but could I bother you for some information?”

“Is someone there?”

“So sorry, my name is Dartak and I’m contacting you on a subspace mental communications channel. I’m part of a race of beings far more advanced than yours.”

“Tom, are you messing around with me again?”

“Please do try to pay attention, this is of the utmost importance.”

“Okay, okay, I’ll play along. What do you want to know?”

“I need to know who won this season’s finale of “Survivor”.”

“You’re kidding, right?”

“Not at all, I had a bet on the out-come and unfortunately your moon had temporarily blocked the transmission.”

“Why would an advanced alien civilization such as yourself be interested in “Survivor”?”

“Well, where we come from we have a similar show where we strand a bunch of different alien races on a deserted planetoid, but in the end everyone gets eaten except the winner. We like how your people must win without eating each other, it seems much more challenging. We tried to make such a show ourselves but someone always ends up getting eaten.”

“Ahh.”

“So can you tell me who won?”

“Sorry, I don’t watch that crap, I hate reality TV.”
