A group is for anyone wishing to improve their writing by following exercises/challenges |
Are you one of those people who enjoy writing exercises from books or courses, but would like more feedback from them? I will set an exercise each week, if you decide to try that exercise, please post it in the forum, please post in bitem format. Everyone who joins in that week must review another persons attempt at the exercise, this way all items will get at least one review, but hopefully more. If you have an idea for an exercise, please email it to me. I did originally set up this group with the intention that anyone could set exercises, but that didn't really work, as no one seemed to want to set them. Our Forum
To join, please email me, everyone is welcome. I am attempting to do at least one exercise a week myself, so the ones I set will either be the exercise I am trying that week, or if I have tried a few, my favourite. If I get the exercise from an outside source I will always show where it came from. The exercise at the moment is: From "Teach Yourself Creative Writing" by Dianne Doubtfire Newspaper Snippet How often have you heard an author being interviewed say, "I got the idea from a snippet I read in the newspaper. It intrigued me." Read a newspaper or watch the news on television to see if there's a 'snippet' which sets your imagination in motion. Write no more than an A4 page in note form developing the idea. Experiment with a 100-word opening. Previous exercises set:
