We planned the day according to your dreams;
The prayers and the flowers and the hymns,
Your friends came by the hundreds all to pay
Their last respects and tributes on that day.
We laid you in the churchyard spot you chose,
Beside a small stone wall with scent of rose,
The "Mummy" wreath and Butterfly nearby,
Our circle of pink flowers with you lie.
Your family were all stood by so sad,
Their faces sombre with what strength they had,
All dressed in black, with shoes shone bright and clean,
To gaze in grief and anguish at the scene.
Your courage and your inspiration moved
So many to give praise to one so loved,
Your smile, and generosity of heart
Will linger on although we've had to part.
As if to thank us, there appeared above
God's covenant with man in hues of love,
A glorious rainbow spread across the sky
The day we gathered near to say "Goodbye".
