I wrote this for a golden wedding. Alzheimer's meant Don no longer knew Hilary, his wife. |
I wrote this song for my sister and brother-in-laws for their golden wedding anniversary. My husband's brother, Don developed Alzheimer's and survived with it for over ten years but no longer recognised members of the family which was really hard for his wife, Hilary as they had a very loving and happy marriage. I wanted to give a meaningful present at such a difficult time. I wrote the lyrics and composed the melody and it is played and sung by a very talented musician, James Gladson who also arranged, recorded and and produced the song. Golden Years If only I could give you back a time from yesterday What would you choose to relive? Would it be a morning from some sunny holiday? If only it were in my power to give you a time from yesterday. You both had each other and your careers And I know there was more happiness than tears, Then children came along Your love sang its sweet song As together you lived those golden years. If only I could give you back a time from yesterday What would you choose to relive? Would it be a morning from some sunny holiday? If only it were in my power to give you a time from yesterday. You both had so much fun with family Sharing time the way that it should be And now they’re fully grown With young ones of their own Oh how quickly time has turned to memories. If only I could give you back a time from yesterday What would you choose to relive? Would it be a morning from some sunny holiday? If only it were in my power to give those days again. If only I could give you back your time from yesterday, If only it were in my power to give You back those special moments that time has locked away Then you would be able to relive your golden years from yesterday. If only it were in my power to give You back your golden years from yesterday. |
