A poem about childhood vacation trips across the western U.S.
Yellowstone at six years old,
an awesome sight at any age.
Watched Old Faithful spew her fury,
heralding her timely rage.

Great stone faces on Mount Rushmore.
Creepy Carlsbad, dark and deep.
Camping 'neath the August starlight.
Much excitement, little sleep.

Endless miles of back seat gawking,
through the mountains, o'er the plains.
Bears and bison, endless canyons.
Every memory remains.

Many thanks to Mom and Dad
for those vacations through the west.
Details now are hazy, but
my mind's a camera. I've been blessed.
