Dom thinks his sister is fibbing. 300 words |
Never Question This Sighting “I saw Santa,” Anne screamed in her brother Dom’s face. “You just made that up!” he scoffed. “I saw him, I saw him!” she said as she burst into tears. “It isn’t anywhere near Christmas Eve! I bet you saw him at the mall.” “No! In the sky last night.” “What were you doing up?” “I needed to pee, okay? I heard bells too.” Dom snorted. “What was he doing?” “Just flying through the sky. I couldn’t see a bag of toys in his sled though!” “Then, it wasn’t him, shorty,” Dom said as he turned to leave. “Why are you making your sister cry, Dom? Santa doesn’t come to brothers who do that,” Mom said from behind him. “She says she saw Santa last night!” Mom smiled. “Maybe she did. I know for a fact he does a lot of trial runs before the big day,” Mom said. Dom stifled a snort. “When I was your sister’s age, I went with him one night. I never forgot it. And that’s why I still....” “You still believe?” the children said as one. Mom nodded. “Wow, tell us about it.” “That’s a story for Christmas Eve,” Mom said as she herded the kids downstairs for lunch. That night, Dom couldn’t sleep, so he went to the window to study the sky. What he spotted took him aback. It was a miniature sleigh and eight tiny reindeer flying through the sky. But what was most amazing, is he could swear his mom was sitting beside Santa. She was laughing as Santa shouted Ho Ho Ho, over and over. He rubbed his eyes a couple of times, but he could still see her. “Go to bed Dom, your mom will be home for breakfast,” shouted Santa. So, he did. |
