English is the craziest language!

Just One Example

Grateful should be spelled greatful.
Happy because you can appreciate
the good beans that spill into your life.
Rather than being sliced into shards,
into a pile of parmesan at the foot
of a grater. Rather than standing
in ankle-deep water swirling
down a grate into the sewer.
Or rather than being a frame of iron bars
holding fuel awaiting a match.
Far better, I think, to be full
of the great. Thus greatful.

Use these words in your poem this week:

bean, can, match, grateful
