Epic poem, fantasy environment with trolls and elves and such
the silence of the snow enshrouds
and moving in are blackened clouds
to make this battle field a trap
where war will come like a thunderclap.
To the left and right are mighty trees
In which the rock troll cannot see
Elven archers standing stout
Awaiting men to help them out.
Large in number are the trolls
But so are arrows to take their souls
From off the bows of wise old elves
Then like a storm here come the Twelve.
Stepping through synthetic mist
The Mages name just like a list
Cowin, Luthin, Bossa and Trum;
Who took the life of the demon Zuljum,
Sama, Gruden, Sumak and Calay;
Behind them four more protégés
Complete the group of the Mage
Controlling nature and all Her rage.
Of course the trolls are knowing fear
But in the distance Elves now hear
The thunderous cadence of Troglodytes
Coming to help their brethren fight.
The battle must swiftly come to and end
Or vicious Trogs will stiffly defend
The trolls, so Elf arrows are set loose
In hopes of avoiding any truce.
The rain of arrows makes a dent
The army of trolls to hell are sent
As a quarter of their number dies
Meanwhile another volley flies.
This time more trolls are well prepared,
They lift great shields and most are spared
But now the mages raise their hands
Calling nature at all their commands.
Showing fearless and full of calm
Holding forward wizened palms,
Lightning sparks between their staffs
Then suddenly trolls are cut in half
As wind and lightning rage down from the sky
Every living troll now dies
Unable to escape the deadly bath
Of twelve strong mages loaded with wrath.
Then through the snow the Trogs now pour
From their throats a vicious roar
And the first inkling of fear is known
Through Elven hearts and Wizard’s bones.
The Elves step out from cover of wood
Sacrificing for Mages as best they could
Then from the ridge’s snowy banks
Three hundred wolves attack the flank
Of the oncoming Troglodyte swarm
To decimate and cause great harm
Which forces the Elves to return and fight
As the mighty Mages bring forth light
Because the clouds were split asunder
By the distant rolling thunder.
The Trogs now clubbing, wolves are felled
While drowning in the swarming swell
About a hundred wolves are left
Troglodyte army grows bereft.
Immature but growing strong
Twelve Whirlwinds grow from Magi song
As snow and wind are growing cold
The temperature drops and then takes hold.
Before the Alliance raises a cheer
A stumbling giant rumbles near
To take the side of the enemy
But failure there is plain to see.
The Elven archers all take aim
Six hundred arrows left to maim
This hard skinned giant from the East
A dumb and clumsy, ugly beast.
Wolves and trolls litter the field
The giant falls, his fate is sealed
To doom as all the remaining wolf pack
Bound upon the giant’s back
And feast themselves on this fresh kill
Enough for all to get their fill.
At last the battle’s come to and end
Now it’s time to heal and mend
All the valiant troops who fought
For freedom with their lives they sought.
