This is my ending to Downpour by Christopher Hawkins (don't read if you have not read it) |
With his daughter and this new woman by his side, a woman he once knew, but will get to know again, Scott relished his new home, a house he can make his, a family he can call his. His daughter was still with him, safe and sound, his wife returned, his dog was gone, but a voice called out to him. A familiar voice he once knew. A boy with dark hair. "Cannot be" Scott told himself aloud. With tears, sad but blessed, Scott went up to the boy. "Son" he uttered softly. "You were dead, how can you be ..." Before Scott could finish, Jacob threw his arms around him. "Somehow the rain mopped up all my blood" Jacob answered back. Scott could not believe it, but did not care, he just did not care however implausible the situation was. "Dad, I am sorry, I am so sorry" Jacob consoled, with tears in both their eyes, Jacob and Scott hugged each other for quite a while. Dana, Tallie, Jacob, and Scott all embraced. Their problems would not fade entirely, but would improve. Each had some sort of sorrow and guilt, Tallie the least, but now, they would be a family, a true family, once more and forever more. The End I did not write Downpour originally, Christopher Hawkins did in 2023. I thought the story was good, but the ending was unjust and thought it needed a different ending. |
