Leaf Peeper Extrodinaire

Michea Turner put the looped end of a stout rope over his head to his waist. Attaching his camera to a head bracket, he put it on. He threw the loose end of the rope over a stout branch; grabbed the end and began to haul himself up until he had a good angle on the branch above.

With an automatic shutter cable in his hand, he began to take shots of the leaf.

“Hey, Michea, what are you doing?”

The sound of a voice where there wasn’t supposed to be one, startled the man on the rope so much, he loosened his grip. He began falling fast, but managed to stop himself. He looked down.

“Niko, you almost killed me!”

“What on God’s green earth are you doing?”

“I found the perfect leaf. I want to take shots from all angles, then tint them like they used to do before color photography. I have a show of my work soon.”

“I’m getting a massive crick in my neck. Can you come down?”

“Nope, I just got here. I can’t leave until I get the shots I want.”

Seconds later, Niko was hanging beside him on the same limb. He heard the branch groaning ominously.

“You couldn’t wait down on the ground?”

“I wanted to ask you something.”

The branch gave way, causing both men to plummet to the ground. As he fell, Michea watched as his precious subject was caught by the draught of their fall. It detached from its slender twig and floated away.

They lay there badly bruised and battered. Michea turned painfully to Niko.

“What did you want to ask me?” he whispered

“How are you gonna get down?” was the reply.

It hurt so much to laugh, but they couldn’t help it.
