Caran is summoned by Mother Nature 300 words |
The Mark Of Nature Caran rubbed her palm anxiously. It wasn’t sore or itchy. But a brand of a daisy had appeared slowly on it over the last week. Just this morning, she’d begun to hear a sound on the wind. As a fairy she had never had such an experience before. It seemed to be a call for her alone. So here she was, flying in the direction of the call. It was getting louder and more insistent. At last, she spotted a house. But what a house, more like a mansion or palace! She landed at the large door and knocked timidly. “Come in, Caran!” called a musical voice. So, she opened the door and stepped inside. The interior took her breath away. Plants and flowers filled the space with color and scent. “Welcome my dear,” said the same voice. Caran looked around for the owner of it. “Up here,” it said. Upon looking up, she saw a beautiful woman in assorted greens sitting on a branch. As Caran watched, she floated down like dandelion fluff to land in front of her. Holding out her hand, the vision said: “I’m glad you came.” As she began to explain why she’d summon Caran, the fairy grew overjoyed. “A flower fairy for Mother Nature! I never dreamed I would be chosen!” she squealed. “A very special one. I want you to paint some daisies. The regular ones are pretty in their own right, but since I’m known for my love of variety, that’s where you come in. “I want fantastic, variegated and impossible colors. Can you do it?” Caran nodded. Mother Nature led her to a painting area and bade her work her magic. The newly appointed painted daisy fairy began mixing and testing colors on actual daisies at once. |
