if you badly want to help others, why can't do the same with yourself as well? |
You go out there almost every day: you scream, raise flags and maybe even say bold words Unyielding to the pressure, seemingly standing firm at times and at others walking nonstop like you're traveling between worlds You go out there every morning, for a work that gives you a chance to live Pushing yourself through boredom, working diligently like a bee in a hive You go out there and show up when needed, preferably on time as well While others don't bother even to come, or their relationship with time is not so well Everyone around you is amazed, "such an inspiration" they say. "Such a free and kind soul" they say No one, though, could have possibly guessed that such a person would ever claim that they have lost the way You feel lost at times, and in others barely feel anything at all Drugged by pleasures when confused, like a drunk walking on a tight rope fearing to fall You're supposedly strong when discussing the misery of others But fall short when discussing yours Now isn't that such an irony? but such is the human nature: full of contradictions to behold Yet that is no excuse to forget yourself, it is by no means fair for you to leave words untold For if you're troubled, can you actually be of help to others when you yourself are in need of solutions? Kindness is good, but to offer it you need first to face your pain and not live in delusions Otherwise, how do you expect your words to reach the hearts and make a change? When the one speaking them is in dire need of change And isn't it just sad? to try and make others find their worth When you are questioning your own, at times even regretting your birth? Wake up damn it! slap yourself as many times as it takes if you have to! Wake up and see how your body is crying in pain While your soul withers away in sadness and stress too Wake up and apologize to them both, and promise to bring them some gain Look around: there are others like you struggling, crawling, and some barely have any sanity left to cling to Yet they are starting to pull through, just like others before them did, and others after them will do Cry if you must, break things if it makes you better But in the end, you have a solemn duty to remember Live for yourself first, appreciate yourself first and help yourself first Then you can confidently turn to others to help and make them understand the gist And just as you hear them out, it's not a shame to spill your thoughts to ears that you can trust Give and take, that is how life between us humans can become just It's one rowdy world out there, so speak your thoughts loud for in it words are easy to miss Don't just help, accept help as well otherwise: where are you in all of this? |
