A snapshot of The Amazon River and what goes on there...

Flying along the Amazon river, calm as can be, or is it? A great eagle elegantly swoops down, just above its undercurrent which is moving rapidly, filled with all kinds of unique creatures characterized by nature.

Murky times ahead for any human that dares go near the Amazon river. Surrounded by a channel of trees, their solidarity makes one feel harmonized with the whimsical rhythm of the Amazon rainforest. Without a doubt, monkeys are an asset to this tropical environment, it wouldn’t be the same in their absence. In fact, they play a crucial role in maintaining the unique biodiversity. At first glance, they may go unnoticed hiding in the branches, but there are hundreds swinging from the tree tops. Although, it may seem they’re chilling whilst chomping on a banana, they are on a strategic mission 24/7. Spreading seeds essential for forest regeneration. Their howls can be heard from miles away, always alert and calling out to other monkey species. Hunting in packs, with strength in numbers, the monkeys keep a close eye on what’s happening around them.

Similar to the river, which has eyes everywhere. It’s green and slimy underwater, secreting any danger except for an invasive eye. The South American Caiman, an apex predator, with a temper that causes it to lash out in a rage. Despite weighing nearly a ton, when angry the caiman can pounce in a flash. Snapping its sharp teeth ready to sink into prey and rip it shreds.

The Caiman is not the only large predator in this space, another powerful beast lingers in the shadows. Slithering alongside, the anaconda marks its territory firmly. Despite its large size, it discreetly propels forward with intent, unknown to clueless victims.

Predators and prey pass by every minute, like a busy motorway the animal traffic is endless. The river remains constant and is always there to be relied on, regardless. What may seem repetitive is full of chaos and it’s a journey that never ends, it always flows. Even when an animal dies, the river lives on.

Once the Caiman sees an opportunity for food, it takes the prey by its limb and drags it away. The end is near for the poor old prey. Before long the alligator has gulped it down in one.
