A short story I wrote about a character I created.

The clock on the classroom wall ticked slowly as 14-year-old Adriel "Aiden" Wilberts sat uncomfortably in his desk. He blinked slowly and watched as his math teacher, Mrs. Powers, droned on about the Pythagorean theorem and tonight's homework. Sighing, he turned his attention to his notebook where he was doodling stick figures pretending to copy notes written on the board. It was his last period of the day, and he couldn't wait to go home and hang out with his friends, dying to tell him about how crappy his day was. He was getting lost in his daydream when suddenly his phone started blasting the opening chords of Nirvana's "Come as you are" making everyone in the classroom look at him.
Aiden's face turned bright red and began to sweat nervously as his fingers stumbled around the screen trying to silence the incoming call. However, it was no use, as the ringing only persisted filling the classroom with distorted vocals, causing his teacher to glare at him. Meanwhile some students were laughing and pointing at him. Finally, after what felt like an eternity, Aiden managed to slam his finger on the decline button and silence the call, putting the phone back into his pocket with a sigh of relief "Mr. Wilberts," Mrs. Powers spoke out to him. "Was there any reason for you to interrupt my class like that?"
"Uhh.." Aiden stammered. "No, no not at all it's just I-I thought it was muted that's all" groaning and burying his face in his hands. Mrs. Powers simply raised an eyebrow "Hmm, very well next time make sure its completely silent otherwise you and I will be having a talk over your...musical preferences" she said sternly before resuming her lecture. Aiden just slumped back into his seat and ran a hand through his messy brown hair. He groaned once more before focusing his attention back to his notebook.
Now, he really wished this day would end faster.
The end
