Can rain be red? Thick and metallic? Shouldn't it be clear? Pure and gentle?
Aeryn gazed up at the sky with distant eyes, her eyebrows furrowed. It remained unchanged—dark and starry. The full red moon—the hero of empyrean—stared back at her. She pondered over the letter clutched in her hand, the other subconsciously twirling her lock of hair.
In the deep safety of the forest, she was unaware. Unaware that faraway, the city was being painted red by the same rain the letter speaks about.
The metropolis reeked of blood, sweat and death. The air was a graveyard of scents. Silhouettes—creatures of horns and wings—covered the sky, blocking out the faint red moonlight.
Hell has come. Just as promised.
No birds sang. No machine hummed.
Only screams were heard—raw and human.
And laughter of the winged Sathrine—cold and inhumane.
The people ran, fear clinging to them like shackles. They searched, desperate for shelter. But all that awaited them were the mocking monsters. The smirking reapers.
Death had a face now. And it was grinning.
Meanwhile, seven figures raced through the dark forbidden forest, each from different directions, unaware of the others.
