a poem about the fear of a lover realizing you're only human

when the stars leak from your eyes, where do they go?
when the moon no longer shimmers its glow over your hair, does it go to someone else?
when the sun fades away from your skin, what replaces it?
what happens to me if the perfect world you made me to be in your eyes, crumbles?
what happens to my shiny newness when it is recognized to be dull and mundane?
what happens when you see the muddiness of my body and soul?
when i can no longer be your idea of perfect, will you still be there for me?
can you accept the person I am and let go of the idea of “her”?
