A poem I wrote for a radio programme

The curtains are drawn

The teabags are in the pot

It’s 7 o’clock

Going out we are not.

Cos it’s Wednesday night

And we’re settling down

To listen to the music

On Erewash Sound.

Kevin and Heather

Are raring to go

With their selection of songs

For the Goldmine Show.

What will they play?

We really don’t know

But we know we’ll enjoy

Those tracks from long ago.

The tunes will take us back

To when we were young

Special times of our lives

When these songs were first sung.

So many voices

Not always ‘Top Ten’

But when we hear them afresh

We’re young again.
