A message for my grandon as he goes through a bout of depression while finding himself.

I Will Always Love You

by Malinda Miles, and dedicated to Xavier Williams, 10 15, 2025

I will always love you, but will you love yourself?
Will you honor and care for the temple God gave you?

I will always love you, but will you always love you?
Will you strengthen your mind, body, and soul each day?

I will always love you, but will you take the time to be your best you?
Will you make the right choices to ensure that you are well, mentally, physically, spiritually, and emotionally?

I will always love you, but will you?

No one can fix you, not inside, not outside, not emotionally, mentally, or spiritually.

That is your sacred responsibility. You must care enough about who you are and who you are becoming to take care of yourself.

The world says survival belongs to the fittest, and that self-preservation is the first law of nature.

Only a fool neglects himself, or perhaps a mother, for mothers often go without so their children may have enough.

If you were never taught to care for yourself, the lesson begins now.
It is your job to learn, to grow, to protect your peace.

No one else will have your best interests at heart unless it benefits them.
You are the captain of your ship, and only you can steer it toward fulfillment and success, whatever success means to you.

There is a story of a man who lived in what many would call poverty. He was offered millions for his land, his patents, and his belongings, yet he refused them all.

When asked why, he said, "What would that give me beyond what I already have?"

Puzzled, they asked what he had that was worth more than wealth. He smiled and said,

I have happiness every day of my life.
I have a wife and family who love me.
I can walk freely across my land, and no one disturbs my peace.
I can sit beneath any tree and read a book.
I can catch my meal and cook it as I please.
No one calls me about overdue bills.
I speak with God in the cool of the morning and rest with Him at night.
No endless messages, no late-night texts, no noise.
Just peace, and a sky full of stars, my own little piece of heaven on earth.

What else is there to want?

No one said you must be rich or famous to be somebody. You only need to know who you are, whose you are, what you value, and be content when you have it.

A life lesson few truly understand, yet once you do, you will never look at life the same way again.

I will always love you, but will you love yourself?
