An Essay of my life lessons for a memoir for my children. |
| Learning Lessons Still In the times I think myself to be most wise, I see the fool reflected in my eyes. There is a Creator I am not the Creator of all life I am of the Creator, and therefore part of all life. There have been many ages of man. Many lives lived, and life is abundant upon this small blue sphere we call home. Each age has sought to find the truth of our being yet, still there remains the single enigma. Were we the creation of many hands, alien scientist perhaps or a cataclysmic explosion of energy giving life to the void creating the universe and all within? Or were we the children of a great and powerful God. How did we come to be? Where did we come from? Through each age there have been wise ones, seers, and holy men, those who have searched for the origins of our beginnings. Many have created reverent and sacred texts which they say were divinely inspired. Many names and visages have been given in order to attempt to understand the enigma of our originality, each with its own interpretation of our reason for being. Yet still the mystery remains unsolved. The Great Mystery the one unsolvable riddle in the universe. What is the source of all that was, is and ever will be. This enigma alone has accounted for an untold number of deaths and destruction over all the ages of mankind, and will continue to do so. We grasp at each and every morsel of spiritual wisdom that can be found in texts, tablets, from guru's, monks to astrology and seers, even from the aspect of trans dimensional communication, channeling directly with those who have passed. Yet once we attain such knowledge there is a passiveness that grows within us, we become in attentive to the spiritual acknowledgment, we become lax in communicating with the higher knowledge, we become bored and soon find ourselves feeling as if there is still something missing. We begin to examine other knowledge, arcane writings, and spiritual guidance. We are forever searching for the answer to our most basic need. To know, Who and Where we came from. There are many religions, texts, and names that espouse the truth of our origin. Each with its own diatribes of dogma, idol sanctity and superstitions. Each one claiming to know the unknowable, each calling the other false. This in itself shows us that we are no closer to the answer of this profound enigma than those who first questioned our origins. Does this mean that the thought of an intelligence capable of creating life has no merit? That the enigma can be more easily explained by science and the study of the universe? Or perhaps something between both worlds, merging one with the other in a complexity and beauty far beyond our ability to comprehend? The complexity of life and indeed the universe shows us that there is a perfect system of continuity, so complex we as earth beings even after all the ages past and present, after all the knowledge of science, and religion are still at a loss to understand the full spectrum of the chain that connects us all. Like the womb of a mother, there is no conscious effort to create life, nor sustain it in the womb. The body like the Great Mother needs no direction, she knows instinctively what is needed to promote life. Each living thing is part of a masterfully created chain, a chain of life that is perpetual. One life exists only because every other life exists. There is nothing so perfect as this chain of life. Man will never achieve this perfection and yet this Great Mystery exists within all. Who is the Creator? The most profound words ever written on this subject from the supposed first person experience are those of Moses, when he asked the Creator 'who are you' the answer given was “I Am”. Indeed this seems to be the most accurate account of the Great Mystery. I Am encompasses all things. Whether or not this is a true account is not as important as the answer given. For all things are of the Creator, all things created are of the Creator. Therefore it is complete in it's definition and needs no further description. This however is not adequate for many who still seek to know that which cannot be known but is a part of all things. An enigma that has no solution, and so we flounder throughout the ages trying to decipher the riddle of our being. Seeking not the wisdom’s and gifts of our existence but instead the being or energy of our creation as if without this knowledge we are incomplete. Because of this mind set we developed systems of worship, religions and laws governing all life. Stepping beyond our understanding trying to create knowledge from supposition, giving life to many varied interpretations of what we view as life, and in the process abandoning the laws of nature and life as given by the Great Mystery. This paved the way for the structure of mankind as the sentient center of all life, placing us at the God position instead of in our natural place as part of an intricate and integral part of the chain of life. We became the authority, the law makers and the judges. We began to define life by human standards, and so judge the worth of all living things by its usefulness to mankind by its ability to provide resource and income. Once we stepped outside of nature we were no longer part of the living world. We became the gods over all of creation, we are child gods playing a game of whims and what if's without the slightest idea of the concept of reality. Our knowledge of life is negligible along side the perfection of nature and the universe and the force or creation that created it. Leaving our natural place within nature in essence becoming extinct in the chain of life. Through our misplaced intent we have removed ourselves from the circle of life leaving a void to which there is no way to close, and yet in doing so we have only proven that we are not needed to continue the circle of life. In fact when we look at life..we find that we are the only species that the circle of life is not dependent upon for continuity. The circle exists with or without us and does not need our direction to remain in abundance and harmony. Some may say this disproves a creator theory. But perhaps it bolsters it also. The apparent truth of our place within the hoop, of no crucial role within the workings of creation could very well speak to the divine creation of our species for a purpose greater than that which is found within nature. Nature is not dependent on us, it is we who are dependent on nature as if nature were created to support our species. In fact we are more dependent upon nature now than ever before. Could it be that by removing ourselves from our place we are more of a threat to nature than ever before? When I see our species actions across this small planet I am truly appalled and horrified to see the damage we have done. The life that we have wasted for our own petty desires to live above all things. Our arrogance is astounding and condemning by our own shallow laws. When we look at the great circle of balance we now find ourselves as the main threat to this fragile web. We have become the enemy of our own life sustaining system. The arrogance of man creates a dangerous concept of reality, a concept that threatens all life, known and unknown. If we choose to see with open eyes and hearts then we must know beyond all wisdom’s created by man that we have erred, we have stepped beyond the parameters of our Creator and supplanted ourselves as God. Science has harnessed little knowledge of the world although there are enough theories to explain without evidence the workings of nature and the universe. These theories are based upon theories until they begin to make sense, and yet still we are no closer to understanding our world or even our own bodies. In it's quest to create science has taken nature to an explosive and unstoppable end. Science has been like an errant child spoiled and pampered, allowed to run amok within this living ecosystem. And has caused such destruction trying to become the creator of life that we see our lives as well as all other life in the most dire and destructive time of all on this planet. Like a child with no understanding we have reached toward the flames of the fire, not knowing the power of the fire to transform our very being and sought to control that with the understanding of a child. We can see the result of this folly in every part of life. We are destroying life on a grand scale without a thought to the outcome for ourselves. We have done nothing but prove our incompetence and ignorance and we will surely all pay the price for our arrogance and indeed as we look at our lives and those lives we see ourselves as above we can see that we have done the greatest harm to I Am. This knowledge should be enough to show us that we have misunderstood the origins of our own creation. We have stumbled blindly seeking the source age after age taking the ideas, opinions and truths of others who could not find the answer they sought to this enigma as fact, becoming instead of wiser more like a child creating fantasy to convey their supposed intelligence and in doing so we have managed to take the easy path after finding no answer to our quandary and instilled ourselves as Creators of all life. Yet the fact remains and can not be diminished, no matter how much knowledge we attain we are no closer to the truth of our origins than we are to our own place within the great hoop. Our knowledge is faulty, we are working on premises that have no legitimacy and no bases in truth. Such arrogance can only bring hardship and suffering. We have erred, stepped away from life and named ourselves as Creator and will surely find ourselves lacking without the tools, knowledge and wisdom’s to take us to a future filled with promise and abundance, taking us instead to a place of destruction and death. So, now we see that our understanding that we have built our lives upon is corrupted, and inadequate to sustain life, including our own. Yet we also can see quite plainly that we are not required in order for life to flourish or to create balance within this circle of life. Therefore we come to the question. Why are we here? If the Great Mystery saw fit to create the human species than what was the purpose of our creation. What is our place within the hoop? This is by far the most profound question. Yet it is the only question we have not asked. Why? Is our arrogance so great that we have refused to question our place for fear of finding that we are no more or less than anything else... equal to all living things, not smarter or wiser but simply part of life. Has this arrogance created an environment unfit to sustain life? These are the questions that must be asked and then answered if we are ever to realize our true place within the circle of life as the Great Mystery has deemed. Some may say we are to be the care takers of all life. Does nature not take care of itself without our help or interference? If we were intended to take care of nature then why are we so ill equipped to do so. Consider our track record to date. We are no better at caring for our pets, children, homeless, sick and elderly. In fact when we look at our species and how we care for each other we see that we by our own lofty standards created by laws and religion fail terribly. Oh we talk a good talk, but the walk is lacking. We care more about our possessions than the killing of hundreds of millions of acres of trees that provide us our comforts, we rape the land in search of oil, gas and gems to wear, precious metals for a fictitious form of currency, as if we above all other life forms need a false worth to exist. Perhaps it is time that we visited these questions. In order to understand the purpose of life. Until we do this we will not attain the answers we supposedly seek. For the answers of Where and why cannot be answered from the incomplete and faulty logic that we as humans have come to rely on in order to understand life in all it's majesty and perfection. We must return to the simplicity of thought and discard the arrogance which we have adopted and utilized to hide our own ignorance. Knowing life is knowing the creator for the creator is a part of all life. A simple truth perhaps, but then are not the greatest truths often very simple and profound? Learn first to love yourself, for you are all things, and all things are you. Now let us see life with new eyes. Let us contemplate life with and open mind. Let knowledge and understanding lead the way to wisdom's door so that we can finally take our place in honor within the great circle of life as the Great Mystery intended. The magic of creation is within us and without us. We are not special in our ability to exist, yet we have the capacity to create within the laws of nature the most wondrous and extraordinary benefit. Not only for our species but for all life, in balance, and harmony. Beyond our minds closed doors there is a treasure so immense and glorious that all life would stand in awe and wonder of our abilities. We have the key to open this door, since the beginning of time we have had the ability to see beyond the physical existence, the flesh and bone of our being. Yet very few have ever used the key. Is it fear that keeps us contained within this physical existence? Fear of losing our imagined place of importance within the circle of life? Fear of realizing our place may not be as grandiose and self realizing of our own selfish dreams and desires? One only has to watch the interchange of the natural world to see that we are outsiders, errant children, thugs, and destroyers of life. The proof in this can be found in the fear we see in the eyes of those who must live in the world of suffering we have created. Is this why we are here? This is not to say that nature in her way does not create suffering and destruction, as we see this living planet succumb to natures growth and correction. The difference being, when nature rearranges the landscape through natural occurrences such as storms, floods, fires etc. the result is always renewal, balance and harmony. When we as architects destroy or rearrange there is no renewal, no balance or harmony. Our ignorance and arrogance again at work. How does one improve upon a perfect system? Perhaps we were never meant to re create life, but to work within the natural world to achieve our own perfection. Using that which is natural to build societies within the natural laws and landscape. Surely we have learned that all our machinations toward building a smarter, more enlightened future have failed badly. As we look around at what man has created we can clearly see that we are further from perfection than ever before. Suffering and destruction on a scale never before can be seen across the earth. No place has been left untouched, unmarred by our handy work. Our quest for energy, and fuel has brought our land and seas to the brink of death. Our construction of facilities that create nuclear energy are at this moment threatening life at the cost of hundreds of millions of lives, along with waste that can not be dealt with but will live on long after our species has ceased to exist is just one example of our destructive science. While the technology exists to harness and create energy from the sun, wind, and water go unfunded, and patents to produce these passive types of energy bought up by corporations and buried so that they will never see the light of day, our sciences and corporate structures continue unabated with their greed driven needs to create the most harmful and destructive sources of energy. Why do we cling so perilously to the destructive patterns of science and destructive creativity? Killing all life slowly with bunk science for a profit is the reason. To argue that we have no other choice is to simply Lie through our teeth. To perpetuate the destruction by support of these systems is the same as committing suicide for the next seven generations. Our legacy will simply be. “We cared more for money than we did for you”. Does this sound harsh? Does it make you angry to hear such words spoken of you and me? Regardless of your feelings the truth is again, simple and complete. We are choosing the corporate model of life for comfort of this age and in doing so committing suicide for the next. Quite a legacy wouldn't you say? One I wish no part of but find myself drug along as hostage in a race against life of which the outcome is clearly shown. There is a solution, there is a way out of this destructive model we have created. But are we lacking the courage and insight to counter it? Are we too woven into the fabric of this convenient and comfortable lifestyle to consider changing our ways? Or is it that we are not willing to admit that we were wrong, that we are not wiser than the one who created life? Are we that arrogant still after realizing our folly to change and say we erred? Life hangs in the balance of these questions that have yet to be answered. |
