There’s a Good Place to Sit

There’s a good place to sit up in Castine Maine,
at the end of the peninsula.
An amazing view of Penobscot Bay
I’d been there so many times before.
But never took the time…
I’m glad I finally sat there.

There’s a good place to sit off the coast of New Hampshire.
About 10 miles out, or so…
An incredible sensation, all the open water…
A whale surfaced close by.
That was a startling surprise.
I’m glad I sat there.

There’s a good place to sit over in Abu Dhabi.
On a disregarded beach near Ruwais.
I watched a family fishing…surfcasting.
They seemed content, in harmony.
I watched in solitary thought.
I’m glad I sat there.

There’s a good place to sit out west, in Montana.
I’m not sure I could find it again.
On the side of an obscure road, purely on impulse
We sat in total silence, my wife and I.
Immersed in the big sky…
I’m glad we sat there.

There’s a good place to sit in my house.
It’s a daily occurrence….
or at least we try to make it so.
It offers contentment…
for my wife, our dogs, the cat, and I.
I’m glad we sit there.
