Trust is hard to earn when it’s broken

Trust

Trust is not blind—
it squints through scars,
counts the ways it once fell
and still stood back up.

It is not a promise spoken loud,
but a pattern,
a showing up when it’s inconvenient,
a truth told even when silence would be easier.

Trust is letting someone
touch the parts of you
that learned to flinch,
and not pulling away
when they see the bruises
and stay anyway.

It is built slowly,
brick by fragile brick,
and shattered in a single careless moment—
not by mistakes,
but by indifference.

Trust is believing your heart
is safe outside your ribcage,
that loyalty still exists
in a world full of exits.

And when trust finally lives again,
it doesn’t rush,
it doesn’t beg—
it simply says:
Handle me with care.
I’ve survived too much to be careless now. 💜
