An older piece, let me know what you think.

I listen to some of the most beautiful songs,
And I read some of the most beautiful poems,
And sometimes I wish
That my love language was words.
But it’s not.
I am good with my words
And I know a lot of them,
But my love language is not words
If it were, I’d know what to say when I saw you.
I’d have poems and songs and sonnets written for you,
But every time I see you
I’m speechless
And my heart stops.
I’ll carry your shoes,
And I'll pick up your bag
And you can borrow my coat
But I don’t have any words to say.
And I’ll bend down and tie your shoes
Or open the car door for you
But I don’t have a
Single
Word to say.
And I wish that words were my love language
So I could tell you in beautiful metaphors and similes
Just how much you mean to me
Just how wonderful you are.
But it is not
And anytime I try to mutter out a word
It’s broken
And it’s stupid
And annoying
And I just know that you hate it
And I stutter, and I know that you can still hear a little bit of the lisp I had when I was a kid.
Because my love language is not words
I wish it were.
