This is a story i'll be publishing here and Amazon. Notes on bottom

The duo were not feeling well after that incident. They were now both paranoid. Mark was able to keep his record for being unaware in a dangerous situation, however.
The two had the same Homeroom. Perenelle Travers was a teacher who loved her job, which extended to discipline. Her dream was to put Steve Michopoulos in detention, and call his parents about it. Mrs.Travers was a social studies teacher, and lots of parents called to complain about how their kids were being sent to the detention table for nothing. She told them to ask their kids again. Her favorite unit was on governments in World War 2, and she spent a lot of time on the chapter about fascist governments.
“Late for your first class, Mr. TRYSTl. And you too, Mr.Farrigan. I was impressed by you helping out the new student with the layout, but that was on the basis that you knew the right directions.”
Mark saw that Asian girl was in his homeroom, which brightened his spirits. He then saw Steve Michopoulos, and his mind’s eye( or imaginary arm) grabbed the dial for his spirits, and turned them gray.
Travers started with the roll call. First came Albert Tindalos, Bailey Castaigne, Holloway Johnson, Imogen Satori.
Asian Girl raised her hand, and Mark couldn’t help but note she didn’t say “Here.” Now he knew her name. Imogen. Such a nice name. He should probably go to the carnival soon. Not that it mattered that summer was ending. Just him, her,..and maybe Guy. Yes, maybe Guy could be allowed, if he was on some sort of carousel. Guy could be a friend.
Mark had never had a friend, though his stride didn’t show it. His mom had led an one woman campaign for safety, and one of the many enemies were playgrounds. And theme parks. And Waterland( despite his protests). The list could go on, but the point was, Mark was a bit cushioned. And by one of those scratchy rug pillows that make you want to strangle the maniac who invented them. He knew that Guy was supposed to be by his side, that he would be with him on his bad and good days, and that he would be loyal. But it was like knowing that an cell had a golgi body in it. It was all just theory. Just plain guesswork, leaving him to stab at the dar-
“Mr. Linell?” Mrs. Travers jolted him out of his pity loop. Mark said “Uhh, here.”, and everyone laughed, including Imogen.
Smooth moves, me,he thought to himself. That big kid, the guy who called me roadkill, is gonna come after me. He’s gonna drag me to Yaro Bay, and tie me to a rock. He’s gonna do it at night. The first thing he’ll do is knock on my door, and I'll think that it’s mom, but it’s not. He’s then gonna get out the tape, rip off my shirt, and strip the hair right off of my c-
“Mr.Linell? Which body part were you talking about?”
Mark was gifted with two weeks of detention. Guy, stood up for him, earning him one week of detention. Imogen just looked at him sadly.
The rest of the classes went by without any incident. Guy filled in Mark on the details of the school during lunch.
“So, that guy whom you were saying was going to rip off your chest hair. Well, he’s Mike Michopoulos. You basically have the equivalent off an human tornado on you. He apparently bullied a guy so much that he left.”
“Imogen? You’re delusional! Everybody in the class tries to be her boyfriend, but everyone is shooed away by her parents. I heard she stopped talking due to eating a Grenado wrap from Miguel’s. Maybe it’s something else.”
“Detention is nice. Principle Arkham oversees the whole thing. He hands out candy bars and high fives, but gives an talk to everybody who leaves detention. No one remembers what it is. He’s a legend.”
