These Are My JOTtings...

What a Crazy Idea!

O, Who would think a writer could
go from a poet filled with "should"
To novelist with many words?
The average soul would say, "Absurd!"

A fervent writer, burning heart,
the golden thoughts with structured plan,
Emblazoned page as etchings start,
"The best laid hopes of mice and man!"

The Don Quixote quest to win!
What fools they be to windmill slay!
To dream beyond may be a sin,
but dream we must beyond today!

What novel way now lays before
that novel words we now must write!
Fulfill we hopes of bulging store?
Lift verdant mountain, trimmed, with might?

Few words I write and all is done
upon this poet's snowy stage,
But how to marshal prose 'til won
as marches t'ward me page by page?

'Tis Fear that cautions me to wait.
Why would I listen to his voice?
To try and fail is true, one state,
but not to try is Fail by choice.

O, can I really write a book,
when missed the Prep by month, again?
At end of month we then shall look
to find how many words we win.
