As a son : -You depended on your parents for almost everything, till you turned a teenager. -Hanging out with friends then became a priority and parents were often seen as people imposing their thought process on you. -College happened, girl friend/s came by, as did heart breaks and parents took more of a back seat. -The first job,, the urge to quick start a career, the next designation, moving to another city, the regular phone calls with parents to check how they were doing. -Joy in the family, parents estatic, the wife came along, a tussle started in being the dutiful son or the doting husband. -You became a father, domestic and career pressures on the rise, your parents some where in the back ground of all of this – waiting. -Years rush by and before you know it, your parents are old and their time has come. -Feeling of guilt, of wishing you had spent more time with them and sharing too little with them. It is too late. This is the way life will be played out – knowingly. |
