A metaphor for my take on life and how it affects me.

Once upon a time, I could sit down and write about all sorts of things. I quit doing that and I've lost what I once had an imagination! I'm doing my best to try and find what I lost, but I'm having to dig deep, and so far I haven't found it. But Im not a quitter and I'll (God Willing) find that spark I'm looking for.

It's been another beautiful day, and one I've enjoyed. The temp is up to 100 degrees and it's 2:35pm. Our heat is without humidity most of the time. I feel for those people living in the east and the weather they're having. The only time I've been in bad humility was when I was off the coast of Viet Nam, but I know what's it like to not know how to get any real relief.

When I left Nam I had been taken over to the USS Enterprise and was directed to the focsil because there were 5,500 people on board and they didn't have any room for us. I slept on a cot and if the Jets taking off and the catapult hitting the end of the runway didn't shake you up then when the jets droped down and kicked in their after burners and the heat came in through the anchor chain divits. It was a miserable night and it was very humid and there was no way to get relief. Fortunately I left on a prop mail plane the next day so I survived. It was memory I'll never forget!

We're having our 3 sheds painted on the outside and a guy came by today and power washed all 3, and put cocking around. He is coming back tomorrow to paint all 3. That takes care of 1 issue, My wife wants the whole house painted inside so we're going to be busy moving things around here pretty soon.

I spoke with the salesman today for the solar panels we're going to have installed. The last time I spoke with him I said we wanted the wiring to go through the attic like the first time and he re-sent the bid with an additional $400. dollars tacked on to it. On this form I signed today didn't show it going through the attic and I brought that to his attention and he said they would make sure it was done right. We'll see if that is the case.

Have a great day and Remember

The mornings have been beautiful and enjoyable. Especially for someone who is gettting up and walking daily. I cut Gracie's walk short this morning because I took our 2016 Nissan Rouge in for the 60,000 mile tune up for the second time. The first time we had 58000 miles on the and I didn't due all the work that was recommended. This time we got all the work that was required done. While they working on the car I went for a walk and covered 2.41 miles and when I was finished so was my car. That worked out pretty well and I got the car washed be for I left. Happy Camper here!

When I came home my wife was just finishing up working out front picking up pine needles. We have 3 pine trees out front along with 9 daisy bushes. My wife likes to work outside and is not happy when the weather gets to hot or cold and rain that keeps her from being outside. Neither one us can handle the heat very well any more. As I've mentioned before we've been living in the desert for the last 34 years. Each year has been different we've in Victorville, Neeles, Foothills of Apple Valley and in town Apple Valley.

We've come along way over the years but so far we're still doing good. Hopefully we'll continue to enjoy where we live. We're planning on getting our 3 sheds painted then we're going to have the whole house painted inside. So we're going to be busy for the next few months.

The day started out very nice, sitting outside enjoying the sunrise. It's not like it was when we lived in the foothills. My Porch was facing west and we could watch the sun makes its climb into the sky. Today our Porch faces east, so what we get is the change of color as the day emerges from night. It's different but you learn to enjoy where you are, and I make the most of it.

Today is Monday and I belong to a Bible Study Group of men. There are Seven of us when we're all in attendance. Today there was only four of us, but where two or more are gather to share the word the Lord is with us. I truly enjoy our study and the fellowship it allows. We talk about the problems we're dealing with asking for prayers. Then we get into the study portion, we are going through the Book of James and there are Lessons that ask question you are to answer, then we go around the table and read our answers. This group is from Calvary Chapel of Apple Valley of which I'm not involved with. I asked it I could join them because I wanted a closer walk with God. They excepted me and I've been going for a little over a year. I feel blessed to be included in the group and we have a good time and we talk about our answers. Sometimes I seem to come at the answers in a different way but in the end we still get to the same place. I really look forward to Mondays, it's a great way to start the week.

I attend another church called the Jess Ranch Community Church and I've only been going to it for a few months. Due to having several issues at home, I haven't really joined in on their Bible Study or other chances to meet people. I not very outgoing and don't walk up to people and introduce myself. This is something I should be doing but it is outside my comfort zone. It's something I would like to change but it's not easy. I'm not an extrovert or an evangelist, but I can talk about what I believe and why I believe. Anyway something to work on.

It's 88 degrees out side and it's 1:55pm. That temp is pretty good for August. We been having some unusual weather for the last few weeks. It's been a lot cooler than normal. I was talking to my wife this morning about it, usually it's not till middle of September before it starts cooling down in the evening and the morning are comfortable. The last weeks have been just that way, I'm not complaining just asking the Lord to keep it coming.

I'll call it quits for now - Remember

It's been a few years since I was actively involved in this site, and it shows. I've been trying to read and ask for help and with both I was successful in moving a story from my blog to a folder. I decided I didn't want to use it in my blog, though it may be the correct place.

I feel like a person who is challenged in several different area's. Age plays apart but there are other issues involved. Having to re-read instructions and trying to figure out exactly what I'm being told. I'm slow but determined and I will get better.

Trying to separate my thoughts and put them down on paper is something I've been doing for a long time; I journal and until recently my journaling hasn't been consistent. I have stories all over the place of things I did with my wife and kids. Vacations we've been on, but I start writing and within a couple of days I'd quit. That has been my story till recently. I started this journal in June and I've been good about inputting information on a regular basis, the only thing that I haven't written about is politics, and I don't intend to start now. I figure what happens happens, and there's not much any of us can do but vote. We'll see who wins the race Republican or Democrat. I do care but I don't intend to share my views on this forum.

The View From My Back Porch has changed since I started this blog. I one time we lived in the foothills and had unobstructed view of the Lucern Valley. It was nice and peaceful and we didn't hear the sounds of the city. We were 5 miles away from HWY 18 and we couldn't hear any sirens or noise from traffic. Peaceful it was but the time came that we needed to move down the hill and come back into the city. We lived in a double wide trailer which was new when we moved in, and now we live in brick and mortar home and the Fire Dept is about 3 blocks away. We live near a busy street and during the week you can hear the sounds of the cars going by. It's 2 blocks away but you hear the noise. The weekends are much quieter, and more enjoyable. I'm glad we moved because with the medical issues I've had being close to the hospital and doctors was a blessing. Our daughter was very glad when we moved. Our old home was 5 miles of dirt road and in the winter it wasn't fun.

So much for now, but I'm going to keep contributing and starting to read other blogs and giving my response to those I read. I'm looking forward to getting back involved and meeting new people.

I've re-read my previous post from over the years and I see that this is not the first time I've stepped away from writing. Each time it's been for a different reason, but I seem to always come back. I enjoy writing in my blog and hopefully I will continue do so on a regular basis.

The high today is expected to be 83 degrees which is odd for August, I'm not complaining but it's not usual. Our night time temps are going to be the 60's and 50's for the next week or two. I all I can say is Thank You Lord and I hope it continues.

Gracie and I managed to get our walk in, and it was very pleasant. This being Saturday there were fewer cars on the road this morning. I believe I noted yesterday that the roads don't have a lot of traffic, and most people keep the speed below 35MPH, plus most move over so I don't feel the need to step off the road. With the sun coming up later, I've been leaving closer to 6am instead of 5am. The days are getting shorter and I'll continue to adjust my schedule.

We've been desert dwellers for a number of years, and we've lived in a very hot climate in Needles, Calif. During the summer the temps would get into the 110's and 120's and at night it would cool down to the 90's. We were younger and we managed to survive for 13 years. I have no idea how we did but we did. Now that we are in our 70's we're not tolerating the heat so well. My wife smokes and she does not smoke in the house. Several weeks ago she told me I needed to get airconditioning in the garage or somewhere so she could smoke out of the heat, or we're going to a better climate, like the beach! Needles to say I jumped on the stick and bought a split unit and put it in a shed that had been my work shop for welding. Not only did we put in air, I had it insulated and drywalled all within 2 weeks. It helped but it's not what she really wants. She loves being outside and working in the yard and (putzing) around doing whatever comes to mind. She does not want to be inside where we have blackout curtains and cardboard on the windows to help keep the heat out. The shed has blackout curtains and a cardboard on the window also. This is the first year she hasn't tolerated the heat at all. Time will tell if we end up packing up and moving or trying to stay and survive,

I'm fortunate that we did put in Solar Panels along with a Tesla Battery. That has made a big difference in our electric bill. In fact we're having more panels installed in the next couple of months. That way we should be able to keep our battery fully charged even during the summer even if the power goes out. It costs but I think it's worth it.

That's all for now!

Greetings and Salutations

I've been on hiatus for quite awhile, and I'm looking to get back into writing my blog. I've continued to journal in my absence, so my fingers are getting a daily workout. I'm not sure I know where to start so this is me diving in!

A lot has changed, and other things remain the same. We've lived in our house now for 7 years and at onetime I thought we would be through with fixing the place up. Bad assumption on my part, I should have known this is a never ending project that just goes on and on and on!

We are now starting to paint the 3 sheds we have and then we'll have the same people come in and do the inside of the house. Oh Fun! It is life, and I need to chill and relax because I'm not doing the painting. We have been fortunate to have squirreled away enough money to get this project done along with adding 10 more solar panels to our roof.

We still live in the High Desert of Southern California and it's Summer time, and we've been enjoying temperatures in 100's but our mornings have be wonderful and beautiful and in the 60's and low 70's. That makes for enjoyable walks with my dog Gracie in the mornings around 5:30am. We do not have sidewalks in this area so, Gracie and I walk in the street. We are fortunate not to have any high traffic streets, so most morning it's pretty quiet. We try to get minimum 2 miles in daily. Life is good and we will continue our walks God willing!

It feels good to sit and express myself to the world or who ever stumbles onto my post. It has been awhile and I'm feeling a little intimidated with putting my life back on paper. My journal is boring writing down what's happening today and yesterday but at least I'm writing so I should feel? Happy, Thankful, Bored, everything altogether.

We just finished lunch and we had Barbecued Chicken, my wife does all the cooking both inside and out. I help prepare the barbecue and light the fire, but when it comes to prepping the food and putting on the grill that's my wife. A wonderful woman and someone I'm very happy to call my wife! She does it all and I couldn't be more proud of all she does.

We have two animals, one cat Greta, who is a Sphinx (hairless) and one dog, Gracie who is Havanese, both are 9 years old and we got both of them as kitten/puppy so the've been together all along. The cat stays inside is very high maintenance she has to be washed bi-weekly and her ears must be cleaned every 3 or 4 days. She very vocal and certainly lets us know when she's up and when she's not happy. Needles to say both animals do not shed so we do not have all the problems that come with animal that do shed.

I guess I've covered a fair amount for my first time out or back. It does feel nice to writing about what I enjoy and get pleasure from. Hopefully more to follow!

Have a Wonderful Day and Remember
God Is Great
