I think the most important thing is not so much whether one produces something everyday, but that they show up every day. Otherwise, writing remains a hobby, not in our way of thinking, perhaps, but certainly in our actions. Results come from what we do, not what we think. If that cursed unfinished poem or story is something that I go to every day, it's my way of letting myself know that this is not just "something" I do, it's what I do, as much as any job or professional obligation that I tend to on a daily basis. If the words don't come, or if a minor revision is all that results, so be it. It's one more chip of marble out of the way, slowly revealing the finished work beneath.
