Maybe five minutes doesn't seem like much sometimes...but how much is it really?
The TV murmurs in front of me and I stay still as if I were watching.
Any minute now... I stare at the clock and it seems as if the second hand were the minute hand, the minute hand the hour hand.
Another commercial passes by, and I gaze at the phone once again.
Nothing.
I get up from my bed and head to my window. I pull the curtains back a bit just to see the cars going by.
I look out the window and watch a black car pass by, a red one, a white truck.
I look back at the clock, the news is back on.
I turn back to my bed to sit down-
RINNNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGG!
Is it the phone? That long waited call?
I reach my hand toward the phone when I pull my hand back.
What if I am dreaming? What if the phone never rang?
So, I await for the next ring.
RINNNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGG!
I reach out for the phone and quickly placed it by my ear.
"Hello?"
"Baby, you took so long to call!" I squeal.
"I took a long time to call?" He said in a puzzled manner with a slight chuckle at the end.
"But-"
I look at the clock, 3:15.
I blushed and felt foolish.
That was just the longest five minutes of my life.
