Antionette, a martinique girl born to foreign parents, and her sad life as a "white cockroach" amongst the colored people.

The way the author pulls you into the story. The thin line between the rumors and real family secrets kept me glued to the plot. The book entices all the senses, to the point that you can almost smell the damp tropical earth of Antionette's house.

How the charcters end up in the story - but then again, if the ending had been different, it wouldn't be as beutiful as it is.

some people may get lost in the confusion and not uunderstand it. The plot is as intricate and choatic as a provincial rumor gone amok.
