Summary of this Book...
The Catcher in the Rye is about a 16 year-old boy named Holden Caulfield. Holden, being an adolescent entering adulthood, avoids society but is lonely deep down inside and just needs someone he can talk to and express his feelings to. He is also suffering some sort of identity crisis where in he doesn't know who he wants to become or what he wants to do which leads him to making poor decisions.
This type of Book is good for...
This type of book is good for adolescents who suffer like the way Holden does because it might encourage them to be a little independent.
I especially liked...
I liked the way Holden would explain things. He explains things in a way where most teenagers can understand.
I didn't like...
How he promises to communicate with his childhood friend Jane Gallagher but ends up getting drunk in some bar, smoking himself to death and meeting up with illiterate girls who sell their bodies and tough men who beat him up.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
When I finished reading The Catcher in the Rye, I wanted to interview some people who read it through the internet.
This Book made me feel...
Depressed. But in a way that made me want to be better than who I was before because in the last part, Holden decides to make up for his wrong doings by going home and not running away again and in some way I understood, he went to see a psychoanalyst.
The author of this Book...
J.D. Salinger must have been very depressed when he was a teenager. this book probably came from his own experience.
I recommend this Book because...
I recommend this book because it has a very important lesson to those who understand and will understand.
I don't recommend this Book because...
I just don't like the language.
Further Comments...
For teenagers who think being by yourself will help you understand who you really are, they're wrong.
Let people in. Don't shut them out.
