Summary of this Book...
‘Labyrinth’ is a time-slip adventure which spans two lifetimes. In 1209, 17 year old Alais discovers her father harbours a secret past. A guardian of one of three books that contains the secret of the true Grail, he bestows Alais with the task of protecting the book and the secrets it contains. Betrayed by those closest to her and under constant threat of the invading French, Alais sets out on an adventure that will span a lifetime.

When Dr Alice Tanner volunteers to help an old friend on an archaeological dig, she is drawn to a hidden cave where she discovers two skeletons in front of a mysterious altar. Suddenly overwhelmed by long forgotten memories, she is dragged into a dangerous search for the Holy Grail, making startling discoveries and meeting long lost friends along the way.

At almost 700 pages long, ‘Labyrinth’ is a surprisingly easy read, well written and constructed. It is obvious that the book has been well researched and laboured over, and the author’s enthusiasm for the era clearly shines through. The ties between the two times and different lives are artfully woven together.

Overall I enjoyed this book, though at times I found the story to be a bit slow and some parts were a little confusing. The ending is disappointingly predictable and unrealistic. Despite its flaws ‘Labyrinth’ is original and remains an entertaining read
