written at midnight, by the light of my cell phone. I was feeling inspirational.
Lightning tore o'er the seas
Thunder crashed through the breeze
And wind tickled the leaves
The night the dragons returned to me

They flew away long ago
They left singing a song sad and low
They left the world gray and dull
And left me full of woe

They left for places with greener trees
Places with bigger bluer seas
They ignored my pleas
And left me on my knees

The world had grown too harsh for them
They could no longer live with men
The belief in magic had grown dim
And Earth no longer had a place for them

That is when the dragons began to flee
Such a great loss, no one could even see
No one noticed not even the bees
And people continued to collect their fees

This is the way for many a year it stayed
People continued in their ignorant ways
Workers worked and children played
And nobody ever bent their knee to pray

But late one night there was a melee
The stars above winked with glee
And moonlight whispered through the trees
The night the dragons returned to me
