what I felt when I came back home in a word - discouraged.
OUT SIDE MY WINDOW

There’s a whole wide world
Outside my window.
Different places,
Different faces
Outside my window.
There’s places in the sun
And things to do for fun,
If only it was so simple,
To say these things were
Outside my window.

But outside my window
Is dull and grey.
Where rain pours by day
And time ticks away.
An atmosphere with an attitude,
To drive a bored boy insane.
Where life reveals her hand,
And you realise that’s it’s no game.

But still I’ll continue playing.
Can’t watch my dreams decaying.

It’s strictly business,
The dreamers mistress,
The battle within the brain.

My mind displaying, forever replaying,
The inspiration behind the pain.

Locked away behind the frame,
Waiting for the sun.
Behind the pane, I will remain,
Until my days begun.

So come as now,
Watch night fall down.
With a tear to fill a thimble.
Until the break of dawn,
I’ll sit and yawn,
Agaze outside my window.
