I wrote this about someone who caused myself and many people I love a lot of pain.
I’m sorry to say I was right,
And you could not win this fight.
Now your heart is an open sore,
Gushing with heated confusion.
But do not fear,
You will find better days.
Those may not seem near,
And bliss may appear to be an impossible melody in some lost sweet dream.
But don’t be scared you’ll find your way
And all this smoke and fog will clear, the sunlight will find your face once more.
I see the disappointment so deep in those eyes that sinks further than any ocean’s floor.
Despair over takes your hopes,
You’ve become a lost, battered, empty soul.
A shattered boy is left behind with nothing but his guitar and broken thoughts.
The hope and faith that lay in his heart has been stolen away by a hungry dragon who feeds on others pain and self hate.
She looks down upon you with evil in her eyes, a crooked smile on her face, and greed on her breath, taking in her dirty work,
Proud of what she’s done.
Never will I say its too bad that the dragon didn’t see, didn’t believe in your potential to love.
You never saw her for what she really was.
A monster who brings you in by filling your head with meaningless words.
She brought you in with her cunning grin,
Gripped your heart with her razor sharp claws.
Once she had roped you in, she sunk her teeth in for the kill,
Leaving you powerless and cold, fighting with all you might to keep your life.
You handed her your trust,
She returned the favor by sending poison coursing through your veins.
Eating you up with all the lies from the inside out.
She delights in your suffering.
She cries those false tears for the boy that she never really knew,
The boy that didn’t love her.
The boy who needed someone like me .
Whose love and faith saved him,
Not something that encouraged him to wallow in his self hate.
Those tears she cried to fool your trusting heart,
But in the end its all meaningless.
She left you wounded,
But I know there’s a future for you to embrace.
Yes, you believe there’s nothing for you because your whole life has been a failure,
And this world has been nothing but bitter.
But underneath that thickness and stubborn armor,
you know there’s passion, love, and life inside of you.
You will rise above your pain to find the better life.
It is not you who failed,
But the dizzy, mess of a dragon.
