Sometimes all that glitters is not gold. Don't let yourself be defined by material things.
I used to dream of being on the road to riches and diamond rings
Because real women do real things
Flashing lights, the glitter, and the glam
I used to think it defined who I am
All these enticing things surrounding me
This was exactly where I wanted to be
Blinded by champagne glasses, blinded by the bling
Letting myself be fooled by expensive things
Exclusive parties in V.I.P.
I was the center of attention, who wouldn’t want to be me?
Chasing the labels like Christian Dior
Somehow losing sight of who I was before
Before all the glam and shiny things
Before heading on that road to riches and diamond rings
I used to dream of 10 carat diamond rings
And wanted to enjoy all the finer things
Like fancy cars, and caviar
And hang with guys that could buy out the bar
But what happens when you take a wrong turn
What happens when you crash and burn?
Who will be there to relieve the pain?
The pain that you feel while chasing the game
When you end up alone in the bitter cold
When there’s nothing left despite what you’ve been told
Are you ready for the excitement, drama, and pain?
Realizing after all that you have nothing to gain
Are you ready for the disappointment it all brings?
Heading down that road to riches and diamond rings?
One day I grew up and stopped chasing that dream
I am no longer on that road to riches and diamond rings.
