A woman reminsces on dysfunctional relationship with her father
Where's Daddy?
He's not here at home
Again, he's left
Me and Mommy here alone

In my room on my bed
I kneel down to pray
Asking God to change Daddy's heart
And bring forth better days

Oh! Its Mommy and Daddy
I can hear them fight
They yell, curse and
Keep me up all night

I hear a door slam
And a soft whimper
Mommy's upset: Daddy's
Lost his temper

Where's Daddy?
At my school play,
he wasn't there
I often wondered
If he even cared

I looked at the other children
And their Daddy
The absence of mines
Makes me very unhappy

Over the years, I grew
And it was the same routine
Until I finally became
An impressionable young teen

Suddenly, my father passed away
Quite young
He's death a result
Of the bad things he'd done

A young woman I am today
But sometimes I wonder
How life would be
If Daddy wasn't six feet under

A good role model he was not
Daddy could have done better
But despite his ill choices
I still must keep it together

I've learned forgiveness
And how to love myself
I understand no one's perfect
And moved on with God's help
