on losing simplicity
From Paradise Valley
to the Hollywood Hills
You needed me
You trusted me…

We played football
in your backyard
and watched the sun
fade slowly behind the trees.

We walked the streets
of Beverley Hills…
bored, tired, and restless.
You never smiled.

We watched movies
on your living room floor
as your tears spilled
I never said a word.

From Paradise Valley
to the Hollywood Hills
We abandoned innocence
We deserted our childhood.
