Why I didn't do my homework - 29 lines 175 words
My most creative moment
must have been the time
I gave my teacher
50 reasons why
I didn't do my homework.

None of them were lies, per se,
But some of them weren't quite true either.

I began by explaining that
I hadn't been around
when she assigned the work,
and was therefore oblivious
that such a task existed.

Then, my sister was away
when I got around to doing my homework,
so I couldn't ask her.

Besides, my computer was being buggy
as I wrote my English assignment,
so by the time that was finished,
I dared not hop online.

Not to mention,
it was a dark and stormy night,
and our power went out,
so there went the Wi-fi,
and with it, my computer's internet.

Our house is situated in such a place
where getting cell service is a miracle,
so we'd better forget Internet.

I made up another 45 excuses
as to why my homework wasn't complete,
and by the time I finished, she said
"By this time, you would've been done."
