Waiting for Blue Lightning

Dancers inside, through the window
Can't hear the music of the fountain
Bubbling defiance at grey skies
And dark-clothed tourists frowning
In the middle of Summer

Bird song in the trees
A pretty woman smiles
She curves into memory
Like smooth silk on hungry skin

I am waiting for the thunder
For blue lightning
For the rain to choose its moment
Mocking and drowning my choices
Of T-shirt and Bermuda shorts
