Poem about my nephew who is undergoing drastic changes.

I want to go back to when you were just you.
to a time when your happiness was complete.
A time when I could protect you from harm, from hurt,
from destruction, from the world.

Now it's too late.
The tiny hand that held mine is gone.
replaced by a stranger's hand I barely know.
hardly recognize.

The pain from your change is so agonizing, so final.
I can only weep for you, my love.
Weep and lament for what's lost.
While praying you find the real you again.
